Directing work
Wil has directed hundreds of hours of television and film. His debut feature film “Hoot” brings his Florida background and twenty years of comedy and directing to a Newbury award winning book by Carl Hiaasen. Wil, along with producer/partner Jimmy Buffett witness Wil’s screenplay adaptation of the book HOOT debuted on over 3000 screens and become a top ten box office draw it’s first two weeks of release. The film was inducted into the Museum of Modern Art’s collection in NYC and was recently named by the Smithsonian Museum one of the top five environmental films.
On the small screen, Shriner is proud to have won the Humanitas Award for an episode of NBC’s “Frasier” entitled ‘Something About Dr. Mary’ dealing sensitively with the issue of racism. Another of his numerous “Frasier” episodes, ‘The Proposal’, earned an Emmy Award for editing in 2002.
In addition to many episodes of “Frasier”, Shriner has directed episodes for the Emmy winner, “Everybody Loves Raymond”, CBS’s “Becker” and “Ladies Man”, ABC's “My Wife and Kids”, “Norm”, “Married to the Kelly’s”, and “Two Guys and a Girl”, Fox’s “Luis” and “Raising Dad” and the “Gilmore Girls” for the WB.
Wil’s body of directing work includes a few specialty projects as well. He wrote and directed a video for Microsoft’s Bill Gates lighthearted retirement tour, produced and directed a TV movie presentation in NYC, a Florida Centennial series and a reality pilot.
Wil began his career as a stand up comedian in Los Angeles at the two most famous proving grounds in America, the Improvisation and the Comedy Store. There he met David Letterman, who took him on to write and perform on his morning talk show. After dozens of appearances with Dave, Jay Leno and legend Johnny Carson, Wil was tapped to host his own national talk show, the Wil Shriner show in 1987. 200 shows later and after three emmy nominations the show ended but Wil continues to do his stand up comedy and to work as a celebrity host and MC at events around the world.
Wil has made over 50 appearances with David Letterman, Jay Leno, Bill Maher and Johnny Carson.
He has appeared at dozens of casinos in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Atlantic City and Reno with: Joan Rivers, Jerry Seinfeld, John Denver, Loretta Lynn, Tom Jones, The Gatlins, Neil Sedaka, Tony Bennett and Jay Leno.

Fort Lauderdale, FL —PR.com– Comedian Wil Shriner launches a comedy auction campaign to help raise monies for charity. The actor/writer/producer/host who has been involved with dozens of charities over the years, decided to standup to help raise money using humor to pry open people’s wallets and purses.
“In these times, charities are having as much trouble raising money as the rest of us. The economy is so bad, last week I had to lay off two of my kids.” Wil Shriner joked.

Wil said he has sat through too many loud and long boring auctions, so he decided to take a different approach. “Most often at a gala or dinner when the auction starts people tune out, step out or disengage. Why not make the auction entertaining and funny? That way we keep the entire audience interested andraise more money for the cause.”
In the past year alone. WIl has raised over $4,000,000 for a variety of worthy causes including the Young Eagles program, the Everglades Foundation, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and the Saint Joseph’s Children’s Home. “When I MC an event, I want it to move along, and be something people will look forward to attending again and most importantly not be an endurance test.” Any fund raising program should follow three basic rules captivate, motivate and participate. Wil and his auctioneers work personally with each event to make the evening a success.
Wil likes to use humor to help make a difference in people’s life. “If we can’t laugh, the world can look pretty bleak. Comedy is a great motivator.” As a director ( Frasier, Becker, and Gilmore Girls) Wil’s last film, HOOT taught kids a valuable lesson about standing up for something one believes in.
The key to raising big money is getting great items for the auction that people will actively bid on. At the EAA auction the shoes and flight jacket of the the US AIR co-pilot Jeff Skiles who safely landed on the Hudson river raised over $40,000 for the Young Eagles program which he now heads up with Captain Sully Sullenberger.
Wil’s advice, “Help wherever you can, use new thinking and approaches to fundraising and money will be all the easier to find. Last Christmas, Wil and the Shriner family donated over 4000 vintage harmonics from his late father Herb Shriner’s collection to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. “I can not tell you the joy we got reading emails from all the service men and women who sent pictures from over there.
